August 15, 2024Despite numerous public hearings and repeated promises, the leadership of the Mykolaiv region continues to delay the implementation of a previously adopted decision to erect memorials in honor of the fallen soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This situation is causing deep disappointment and resentment among the families and loved ones of those who gave their lives in defense of the country.
This is reported by Ukrainian Reality sources.
The issue is particularly sensitive for activists of the Mykolaiv regional branch of the “Association of Mothers and Wives of Defenders of Ukraine.” They are dissatisfied with the fact that local authorities, despite public assurances, are not giving sufficient attention to the issue of commemorating Ukrainian soldiers. As the implementation of these projects continues to be delayed, the organization has begun actively promoting the narrative in the public sphere that the authorities are inactive and indifferent to the memory of the fallen.
Relatives of the deceased see such an attitude on the part of the authorities not only as a disregard for the memory of Ukraine’s defenders but also as a direct violation of the promises made to the public. They point out that the lack of concrete actions to create the memorials undermines trust in the regional leadership and casts doubt on their willingness to support those who have been left without their loved ones due to the war.
