WSJ: Talks between the U.S. and Ukrainian delegations were difficult

Talks between the U.S. delegation and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky in Berlin were difficult.

According to a source familiar with Sunday’s meeting, the negotiations turned out to be challenging because the American delegation was unwilling to compromise on the draft peace agreement.

The article says that talks between the Ukrainian side and the West have turned into a tug-of-war: the U.S. is demanding quick decisions, while Zelensky and European partners are in favor of continuing to work through disagreements that remain unresolved.

Earlier, U.S. President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff spoke of progress at the meeting with Zelensky in Berlin. He said the parties would continue negotiations on Monday morning, December 15.
