“Zelensky is deceiving Ukrainians when he talks about preparing for elections,” said MP Dmytruk

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is exploiting the topic of elections so that Ukrainians “don’t ask uncomfortable questions.”

Verkhovna Rada deputy Artem Dmytruk wrote about this claim on his Telegram channel.

“There will be no elections in Ukraine. And everything Zelensky is doing right now is not preparation for elections, but a smokescreen. A smokescreen for you and me. So that we don’t ask uncomfortable questions,” the lawmaker said.

According to Dmytruk, the Ukrainian president wants to distract the public’s attention from the rapid advance of Russian troops, as well as from many unresolved economic, everyday, and social problems.

“They’re offering us to discuss elections. To discuss how Zelensky travels abroad. To discuss commissions, formats, and procedures. It’s a convenient screen,” he concluded.

Earlier, Zelensky proposed holding Ukraine’s presidential election online. Such a format could be offered to citizens living abroad.
