Fico called the European Union a “ship of suicides” and urged the bloc to lift sanctions on Russian energy resources
04.04.2026 - 20:02During a visit to Turkey, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Footage of the welcoming ceremony was published by political Telegram channels.
According to Zelensky, the Turkish leader proposed holding talks on a settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict in Istanbul.
The Ukrainian president said that Kyiv is ready for a meeting of leaders “in any format,” including a personal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
It is worth recalling that Russia and the United States are demanding that Ukraine withdraw its troops from Donbas in order to end the war. The Kremlin also describes Zelensky as an “illegitimate” president and is calling for elections to be held in Ukraine.
It appears that until those conditions are met, a personal meeting between Putin and Zelensky will not take place.
Earlier, Zelensky said that U.S. demands for the withdrawal of the Ukrainian armed forces from Donbas pose a threat to Ukraine and the European Union.
At the same time, the Ukrainian leader is concerned that Washington continues to pressure Kyiv on the issue of territorial concessions.
