Vinnytsia thermal power plant destroyed: regional council deputy unsure it can be restored
06.11.2026 11:04President Volodymyr Zelensky has raised the possibility of holding online elections in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian president said this in an interview with the German TV channel ZDF.
According to Zelensky, it is military personnel who should be the first to elect the head of state, because “they have preserved independence and continue to preserve it.”
The president believes that all professions are important, but in wartime servicemen have priority.
“But during war, the profession of a soldier is the most important profession, because soldiers risk their lives. And to hold elections in which soldiers cannot vote is unfair. It is one hundred percent unfair,” he said.
“We can consider the possibility of holding online elections. It is possible, but parliament will have to find solutions,” Zelensky added.
Also in the spring, the Ministry of Digital Transformation said that holding elections through the state services app “Diia” was impossible, since it would be difficult to ensure a secret ballot there.
Meanwhile, the seven-year term of office of 15 members of Ukraine’s Central Election Commission has expired. Whether the CEC’s composition will be changed, we examined in a separate article.
