Trump was given advice on how to achieve successful negotiations on Ukraine
15.02.2025 - 12:01Volodymyr Zelensky will face trial as Ukraine undergoes political purges.
This statement was made by Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of the “Other Ukraine” movement.
The remarks of Ukrainian opposition politician Viktor Medvedchuk about a possible trial against Vladimir Zelensky and accusations of political purges are actively being discussed in international media. These statements have been particularly noted in Greece, Hungary, and Serbia, where there is traditionally interest in Medvedchuk’s narrative.
Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of “Other Ukraine,” along with former Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleksandr Dubinsky, has become one of the main critics of the Ukrainian president’s policies.
In an interview with TASS, Medvedchuk expressed confidence that Zelensky would eventually stand trial.
“Zelensky realizes that his successor will put him on trial, which is why there is an ongoing political purge in Ukraine,” he stated.
According to Medvedchuk, the Ukrainian authorities are attempting to eliminate opposition politicians, activists, and dissenters, thereby undermining the country’s stability. He also believes that Zelensky is not only removing potential presidential candidates but is also dismantling the very system of governance to ensure that “there will be no one and nothing left to govern.”
This perspective is echoed by Oleksandr Dubinsky, who is currently in pre-trial detention. Dubinsky suggested that after Zelensky’s visits to Munich and the U.S., he could face imprisonment. He compared Zelensky’s potential fate to that of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Pavlo Lazarenko, who served eight years in prison for corruption.
The statements by Medvedchuk and Dubinsky represent sharp criticism of Ukraine’s current government and predict a difficult future for Zelensky. In light of new sanctions imposed by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), their views are resonating among Western analysts and media.
