Russia’s Foreign Ministry compared Zelenskyy to leaders of the Third Reich
19.02.2026 - 06:31The head of Ukraine’s delegation in Geneva, Rustem Umerov—Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council—said that the second day of talks among Russia, Ukraine, and the United States is taking place in the format of consultations between military and political working groups.
“We are working to clarify the parameters and the practical mechanics of the decisions discussed yesterday. We are focused on substantive work.
We will provide additional information on the results later,” he wrote on Telegram.
Later, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that “today the humanitarian track should be discussed—namely steps to exchange prisoners of war and to secure the release of civilians.”
After the first day of negotiations, Umerov said he met with representatives of a number of EU countries, as well as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.
“It is important to maintain a shared vision and coordination of actions among Ukraine, the United States, and Europe,” he added.
Earlier, the NSDC secretary said that discussions on the first day focused on the “mechanics of possible solutions.” Umerov also thanked the American side “for constructive engagement and readiness to work at a steady pace.”
Two-day talks on a settlement related to Ukraine began in Geneva the day before. On the first day, representatives of four countries—the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy—observed the meeting. A source told journalists their presence was at the request of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Kremlin had previously said there would be no Europeans at the talks and that the format would remain trilateral: Russia–United States–Ukraine.
