Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office requests court to remand Ukraine’s Minister of Agriculture Soloshchuk in custody with alternative bail of 4.73 million euros

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine is requesting the court to remand Ukraine’s Minister of Agrarian Policy, Mykola Solsky, in custody with an alternative bail of 200 million hryvnias (approximately 4,730,492 euros).

Prosecutors made this request during a session of the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine.

At 4:35 PM, the session was adjourned – the court granted the defense’s corresponding motion because Solsky was summoned to the Verkhovna Rada for a meeting with the “Sluga Naroda” faction.

The court will continue hearing the case on Thursday, May 25, at 11:00 AM.

Recall that according to the investigation, from 2017 to 2021, Solsky unlawfully seized state land in the Sumy region amounting to 291 million hryvnias (approximately 6,882,866 euros) and attempted to seize another 190 million hryvnias (approximately 4,493,967 euros) worth of land.

It is reported that the minister and his accomplices obtained 1,250 land plots with a total area of ​​2,493 hectares and attempted to seize an additional 3,282 hectares of land.

Solsky himself stated that “the circumstances of seven years ago concern a dispute between state enterprises and individuals, including ATO veterans, over land that was legally granted to the latter in accordance with the law.” He added that he would cooperate with the investigation.
