27% of thermal power plants are operational: Prime Minister Shmyhal spoke about the state of Ukraine’s energy system

In Ukraine, 62 power units at thermal power plants (TPPs) and hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) are currently non-operational.

This was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.

“Forty-two power units are essentially destroyed, and another 20 hydroelectric units are damaged. Additionally, 73% of TPPs are non-functional,” added Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that air conditioners in Kyiv consume 350 megawatts, which is half of the total consumption. If they are not used, the capital can almost go through the season without power outages for ordinary consumers, Shmyhal noted.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister announced that condominium associations can receive compensation of up to 1 million UAH for the installation of solar power plants and up to 2 million UAH for the installation of heat pumps for heating.

“There are almost 40,000 condominium associations in the country. A special GreenDIM program, launched by the Energy Efficiency Fund, is in effect for them. We have already received the first application from Drohobych in the Lviv region. A condominium association is installing a 36 kW solar power plant. The Energy Efficiency Fund will reimburse 70% of the costs non-repayably,” said Shmyhal.
