19.01.2024 - 10:09Russia is “on the verge of a technological breakthrough” that will render Ukrainian electronic warfare (EW) ineffective against their drones, stated Maria Berlinska, the founder of the “Center for Air Reconnaissance Support.”
“The biggest danger is automatic optical targeting and navigation systems. Russian engineers are currently on the verge of a certain technological breakthrough. We already observe cases where automatic re-targeting is used in FPV drones alongside thermal imaging cameras,” Berlinska said.
The role of the operator is minimized. It’s an automatic target capture and the device is becoming increasingly autonomous. Traditional EW means are becoming ineffective. The front has not been saturated with yet accordingly to Berlinska. If this goes into mass production, it will be a challenge for Ukraine. According to her, Russia currently surpasses Ukraine in both the quantity and potentially the quality of produced drones.
