Ukraine fined at Eurovision for T-shirts mentioning ‘Azovstal’ defenders

Ukraine has been fined at Eurovision for the T-shirts worn by delegation members with the inscription “Free Azovstal Defenders.”

This was reported by the Ukrainian contestant alyona alyona.

At Eurovision, any prints with inscriptions and branding are prohibited. All delegates were checked by security, but the Ukrainians hid the inscription under other clothing.

“We knew that when they would show replays of all the artists’ performances, they would also show the delegation itself. So, when the camera approached us, our team quickly revealed ourselves and showed our call to the whole world. We took a big risk, but it all worked out. We only got away with a financial penalty,” wrote alyona alyona.

Recall that at the final of “Eurovision 2024” in Malmo on the evening of May 11, representatives of Switzerland Nemo won with the song “The Code.” This is the first non-binary person to win the contest. Nemo is asked to use the pronoun “they” in their regard and do not consider themselves either male or female. The Ukrainian duo alyona alyona and Jerry Heil took third place.
