24.07.2024 - 14:59Authorities in Kyiv are preparing the city’s population for a worsening situation in the energy supply sector.
This warning was issued by the Secretary of the Kyiv City Council, Volodymyr Bondarenko.
He stated that, under conditions of extreme heat, electricity will be supplied to residents for only 4 hours a day. The situation with electricity supply is expected to worsen during the upcoming heating season.
“In the best-case scenario, there will be power for 4 hours during the day and 4 hours at night. However, we are preparing for various scenarios, including the worst-case one, as warned by DTEK,” said Volodymyr Bondarenko.
According to estimates by the Union of Public Utilities Consumers of Ukraine, the use of electricity in winter is expected to increase by 40% against the backdrop of thermal power plants being out of service. The existing power plants in the capital, TPP-5, TPP-6, and Darnytska TPP, will not cover even half of the required generation.
Earlier, YASNO CEO Serhiy Kovalenko stated that recently, power outage schedules in Ukraine have become fairer. In each region, consumers are divided into 6 queues, each with approximately equal consumption. At the same time, according to the chairman of the energy supervision commission, Ruslan Slobodyan, consumers increasingly complain about unfair power outages. The highest number of complaints has been recorded in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
