14.08.2024 - 22:04If she wins the election, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris could become the “killer of Ukraine” due to her poor relations with Ukrainian President Zelensky.
This was reported by The Telegraph.
The publication recalls that in February 2022, Harris and Zelensky had tense strategic disagreements at the Munich Security Conference regarding how to prevent Russia from dragging Europe into a new Cold War. At that time, Harris refused Zelensky’s request for preventive sanctions against Russia, hoping that such measures would stop the invasion.
“Essentially, Kamala Harris is similar to Joe Biden: she is a liberal internationalist who supports global coalitions, a strong NATO, and a robust Europe. But in terms of diplomatic style, they couldn’t be more different. Strangely enough, considering all the attention on Biden’s physical issues, he is far more energetic and confident on the issue of Ukraine than Harris. She missed several opportunities to establish decent relations with Zelensky, and her indecisive approach to the crisis does not bode well if she wins the presidential election,” said a former Biden aide on condition of anonymity.
The publication also recalls that during a press conference in Poland, discussing refugees who fled Ukraine two weeks after Putin’s invasion, Harris laughed. Former Zelensky press secretary Yulia Mendel wrote on X: “It would be a tragedy if this woman won the presidential election.” Mendel quickly deleted her post and retracted her statement, but the unfavorable opinion of observers that Harris is out of her depth on Ukraine matters has proven difficult to dispel.
“Unlike some of Kamala Harris’s historic statements on Ukraine, if she wins the presidential election, her relations with Ukraine and President Zelensky promise to be far from simple,” the publication concludes.
In July, Western media already reported that the relationship between Harris and Zelensky was difficult.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump claims that if Harris wins the U.S. presidential election, a third world war could begin.
