A lawyer for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church called the law banning it a religious purge and a violation of human rights
20.08.2024 - 12:19Details have emerged about how Germany struggled to get Poland to arrest Ukrainian national Volodymyr Zhuravlev, who is suspected of involvement in the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines.
This was reported by the American publication The Wall Street Journal.
According to their information, Polish prosecutors publicly explained that they did not immediately arrest the suspect because the Germans had not provided his address in the European registry. Berlin denies this.
Later, Warsaw stated that the Internal Security Agency (ABW) needed to review the arrest request before detaining the suspect. This caused concern among German authorities, who decided to escalate the issue to the Polish government, sources told the publication.
German ministers asked their Polish counterparts to ensure that the warrant would be executed, but the Poles refused. The Germans are convinced that this was a deliberate sabotage of the investigation into the pipeline sabotage.
According to the source, the Poles told their German colleagues that those responsible for the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines should be awarded medals, not arrested.
As a result, the suspect left Poland for Ukraine, along with all other individuals involved in the case.
