The Wall Street Journal described how Poland refused to hand over the Nord Stream saboteur to Germany
August 20, 2024A Ukrainian family with children was deported from Germany to Poland.
This was reported by the German tabloid Bild.
According to the publication, on Saturday, German police stopped a car with Polish license plates at the German-Polish border. The driver was a 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen with a valid international passport. There were a total of seven passengers in the car, all members of one Ukrainian family aged between 3 and 46 years old. They did not have the necessary documents to enter or stay in Germany. As a result, they were taken to a police station and then deported back to Poland.
Law enforcement authorities have opened a case against the driver for the illegal transport of foreigners, and an investigation is underway.
At the same time, some Western officials have advocated for the deportation of Ukrainian men back to Ukraine. For example, in the spring, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated that Ukraine should take the initiative to return conscription-age men from abroad to their home country.
