The National Bank of Ukraine wants to prevent banks from hiding Ukrainians’ money from being seized
13.09.2024 18:57Ukraine must “find a solution” to the issue of the Volhynia Massacre “before Poland takes more severe measures”.
Specifically, Sikorski called for the exhumation of victims, a topic he plans to discuss today during meetings in Kyiv.
“What happened in 1943 during the German occupation of Poland and Ukraine was a plan by the Ukrainian resistance to carry out ethnic cleansing in the Volhynia region through the mass killing of Polish civilians,” Sikorski said.
He claims that between 80,000 and 120,000 people were killed in just a few months. The minister also acknowledged that “there were acts of revenge by the Polish resistance movement.”
Sikorski emphasized that the issue of exhumation for proper reburial is important to millions of Poles, many of whom are voters.
It is worth noting that Sikorski raised the issue of the Volhynia tragedy during his first conversation with Ukraine’s new Foreign Minister, Andriy Sybiha.
Shortly before the resignation of Sybiha’s predecessor, Dmytro Kuleba, his statement regarding the exhumation of the Volhynia Massacre victims caused a major controversy in Poland.
