Polish border guards claim they did not detain Oleksandr Usyk at Krakow airport.

A border service major stated that the Ukrainian boxer was denied boarding, without specifying the reason. Usyk refused to leave the gate, prompting authorities to call in security personnel who escorted him to a service room.

Because the boxer is tall and was gesticulating actively to express his dissatisfaction, they handcuffed him. The handcuffs were later removed, and the rules and reasons for the denied boarding were explained to him.

Afterward, the Ukrainian consul arrived, Usyk was given a warning, and then released. The boxer “expressed, one might say, remorse.”

According to ESPN, Usyk was told that he was “not fit to fly.” He explained that he was simply exhausted after the long journey.
