07.03.2025 15:57U.S. President Donald Trump’s special representative, Keith Kellogg, explained the reasoning behind halting military aid to Ukraine.
As reported by Associated Press, Kellogg stated that Ukraine itself is responsible for this decision.
“The best way I can describe it is like hitting a mule across the nose with a wooden board,” he said, implying that the move was meant to provoke a reaction.
He further clarified that this is a pause, not an end, and that the next steps depend on Ukraine.
“I know that allies who support this process have also put their activities on hold. From a military perspective, any redistribution of resources, especially intelligence-related ones, is highly significant,” Kellogg stated.
It was previously reported that Trump’s team warned Ukraine that resuming U.S. military aid would be conditional on Kyiv’s agreement to peace talks.
Kellogg also mentioned that U.S. assistance could resume if Ukraine shows willingness to negotiate and sign a resource deal. He emphasized that the White House supports a reset in Washington-Moscow relations as a step toward ending the war in Ukraine.
