02.05.2025 11:20Yesterday evening, Ukrainian military personnel began reporting a deteriorating situation near Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region.
Stanislav Bunyatov, a soldier from the “Aidar” battalion, stated that “the situation in the Pokrovsk direction is openly difficult,” with Russian forces reinforcing their positions with reserves.
“If we continue assembling drones on our knees and rely solely on the professionalism of our people, we’ll eventually hit a dead end,” he wrote.
A Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier with the call sign “Muchnoy” believes that “the enemy is increasing the pace of the offensive and is seriously preparing to reach the city.” He also mentioned intensified attacks in the Zvereve area, although he did not confirm any Russian advances there.
Russian military channels are claiming the beginning of an assault on Pokrovsk. They assert that Russian forces have captured the village of Zvereve and attacked the southern outskirts of the district center last night—specifically the Parkovyi and Lazurnyi neighborhoods—claiming they managed to gain a foothold there.
Ukraine has not confirmed this information, nor the loss of Zvereve. According to the Deep State map, it remains under Ukrainian Armed Forces control.
The Ukrainian General Staff reported Russian attacks near Zvereve in its morning update.
Deep State also reports that Russian forces continue to advance near the Pokrovsk–Kostiantynivka highway and are attempting to encircle Ukrainian units near a road junction.
Russia has captured Tarasivka, is attempting to enter Novoolenivka to the north, and has already entered Nova Poltavka on the far side of the highway. It is possible that some Russian soldiers have managed to hold positions there, although many were taken prisoner.
Fighting continues in Malynivka, where Russian forces are trying to gain a foothold and encircle Ukrainian units at the junction.
Additionally, Russian troops have advanced near Sukhaya Balka, located further east.
As a reminder, according to Deep State data, Russian forces captured 175 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory in April—more than in March, when they took 133 square kilometers.
