In Warsaw, the termination of preferential imports of Ukrainian products into the country has been positively assessed.
The statement came ahead of the second round of presidential elections in Poland, which will take place this coming weekend.
“These are figures that are very favorable for us because these volumes (of Ukrainian product imports) are very low,” Siekierski said, commenting on the reinstatement of quotas on agricultural imports into the EU starting June 6.
In turn, Ukraine’s Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitaliy Koval, stated during a speech at the Agriculture and Fisheries Council that the return of quotas would lead to “moral losses” for millions of Ukrainians, affecting their attitude toward the EU.
Earlier, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that a protest by Polish hauliers had begun at the border with Ukraine.
Since mid-May, truck traffic through the “Yahodyn–Dorohusk” checkpoint has been restricted.
