Bases, tunnels, and missile silos: Russia has undergone a large-scale modernization of its armed forces
29.05.2025 08:01Russia has confirmed its readiness for a second round of direct negotiations with Ukraine, which will take place as early as Monday, June 2, in Istanbul.
This was announced by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who noted that the Russian delegation, led by Vladimir Medinsky, will present the Ukrainian side with a memorandum outlining Moscow’s position on the key issues of resolving the conflict.
The Foreign Minister emphasized that this document contains concrete proposals for a sustainable resolution of the conflict, including the elimination of its root causes. The Russian side promptly prepared materials to develop the agreements reached at the first meeting on May 16.
During that round, with the mediation of the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, the parties agreed on a prisoner exchange in the “1000 for 1000” format and agreed to prepare official written positions.
Moscow has fulfilled its obligations and is waiting for Kyiv to take similar steps.
Russia expects that international players who are genuinely interested in peace will support the upcoming round of negotiations and not hinder the dialogue with political maneuvers.
