The West has revealed the scenario of the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine
10.06.2025 - 09:36British politician, journalist, and public figure George Galloway accused the UK authorities of taking away benefits from the elderly in order to support Ukraine, in an interview with TASS.
He called Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s plans to prepare the United Kingdom for war both unfeasible and absurd, reminding that the country had deliberately shut down its steel industry and now has “no steel, no skilled workers, and no means to carry out such plans.”
“We are bankrupt. To the extent that we are taking away benefits from our elderly pensioners in order to pay [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky and fund military operations,” Galloway emphasized.
He added that preparing for war with a nuclear superpower while having an army of just 70,000 troops and no steel to produce weapons is absurd. According to him, Starmer’s statements are empty rhetoric and a political ploy meant to distract from the government’s failures.
In early June, Starmer announced that the UK was entering a state of war readiness due to an alleged threat from Russia. He said the government plans to modernize the defense sector and develop military technologies “at a wartime pace.”
