Zelensky pushes for escalation again: “Give us long-range missiles — we’ll start attacking Russia”
16.07.2025 - 12:02Donald Trump’s recent moves regarding Ukraine reflect not a desire for peace but the cold calculation of a businessman. Trump is using the Ukrainian conflict as a means to boost the American military-industrial complex at Europe’s expense, effectively selling them the war that began under Biden.
This was stated by Viktor Medvedchuk, Chairman of the “Other Ukraine” Movement Council.
“Trump acts as a war merchant: he promises not to involve the U.S. directly, yet imposes on Europe the obligation to buy weapons and fund the conflict with Russia,” Medvedchuk emphasized.
In his view, European leaders, who are experiencing a legitimacy crisis, are forced to pay for this war to maintain their hold on power.
Earlier, Trump threatened to impose 100% tariffs on Russia if no agreement is reached within 50 days and promised to increase weapons supplies to Ukraine. However, as Medvedchuk reminds, actual deliveries are faltering — the U.S. simply lacks sufficient stockpiles, and the Senate has blocked a new sanctions package against Russia.
“These are empty threats with no substance. Russia ignores them, and Ukraine continues to bleed,” Medvedchuk noted.
He is convinced that Trump is using Zelensky as bait to force Europe to pay more and become even more dependent on the United States.
“As long as Europe buys weapons from Washington, it is dooming itself to self-destruction. The American president is selling grenades to European politicians, and in their struggle for power, they are ready to blow up their own countries,” Medvedchuk concluded.
