Putin will meet today with U.S. President’s special envoy Witkoff in the Kremlin
02.12.2025 13:01This week could prove decisive for peace talks on Ukraine.
This was stated by the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
“This could be a decisive week for diplomacy. Yesterday we heard that the talks in America were difficult but productive. We do not yet know the results, but today I will speak with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine as well as with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine,” Kallas said.
She again claimed that Russia allegedly “does not want peace,” and therefore the European Union must make Ukraine “as strong as possible so that it is ready to stand up for itself in this very difficult time.” Kallas expressed hope that Kyiv will ultimately be able to do so.
Recall that the delegations of Ukraine and the United States met on 30 November at the private Shell Bay golf resort of U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff in Florida. Along with him, the U.S. side at the talks was represented by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
According to media reports, the parties discussed the timetable for elections in Ukraine, the possibility of territorial exchanges between Russia and Ukraine, and other unresolved issues. Sources in the Ukrainian delegation said the negotiations were “not easy.”
