14.01.2026 13:11They attempted to illegally transport antiques and coins across Ukraine’s state border—items that could be of cultural and historical value. Among the seized objects were bronze arrowheads and a Scythian tethered axe.
Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service reported this. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon, January 12, at the border with Romania.
The antique items were found at the “Diakivtsi” checkpoint (called “Rakovets” on the Romanian side) during an inspection of the luggage compartment of a Mercedes passenger minibus that was heading out of Ukraine.

A Ukrainian citizen tried to take abroad a collection of 16 coins of various denominations, 39 bronze Scythian arrowheads, and a Scythian tethered axe. The attempt was stopped by border guards from the Chernivtsi detachment together with customs officers.
The items mentioned above were seized for an expert examination.
In connection with the incident, a report was sent to the Security Service of Ukraine regarding suspected signs of an offense under Article 201 of the Criminal Code, “Smuggling of cultural valuables and weapons.”
