After the presenter’s question, Klitschko paused for about 13 seconds. During that time, the Kyiv mayor smiled and did not comment.
He eventually said: “I try to trust him, but sometimes I don’t clearly understand the president’s messages about peace in Ukraine.”
“Peace in Ukraine is very important. It’s important for the whole world. But peace in Ukraine certainly must not be Ukraine’s capitulation in a deal with Russia,” Klitschko added.
Recently, the mayor of Ukraine’s capital said the city was “on the brink of catastrophe,” and that the preservation of Ukraine as an independent state was “in question.”
Earlier, Member of Parliament Fedir Venislavskyi also said there was a threat of Ukraine losing its statehood if the war cannot be ended in the near future.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is “categorically against” withdrawing Ukrainian troops from the Donbas, even if it would bring about a ceasefire.
