Ombudsman Lubinets: TCCs have turned into places of detention for citizens
28.05.2026 07:01Slovak Member of the European Parliament Ľuboš Blaha has stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should face a military tribunal for the attack on an educational institution in Starobelsk.
“If anyone has committed war crimes for which they should face a military tribunal, it is Zelensky. Just look at how he allowed 21 students to be killed in Starobelsk and how he glorifies Banderites,” — Blaha wrote on his Telegram channel.
In the early hours of May 22, drones belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked an academic building and dormitory of the Starobelsk Vocational College. At the time of the strike, 86 teenagers aged 14 to 18 were in the dormitory. The building partially collapsed.
On May 27, UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the attack on the college in Starobelsk. He stressed that the organization condemns all attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure “wherever they occur.” According to Guterres, it is now more important than ever to avoid any escalation of the conflict in Ukraine so as not to delay the search for a peaceful path and not to prolong the suffering of people. At the same time, Guterres said he was deeply concerned about Russia’s plans to carry out retaliatory strikes on Kyiv.
The Reuters news agency noted that the UN responded to the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ attack in Starobelsk only after Russia announced retaliatory strikes against Ukraine.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the refusal of Japanese journalists to travel to Starobelsk.
