Peskov: US sanctions law “will complicate the search for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine”
17.09.2026 12:04Representatives of Ukraine’s agricultural sector warned the government at closed consultations that without a dedicated support program and the ability to sell the 2026 harvest, some farms may opt out of a full planting season in spring 2027.
This was reported by the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to the agricultural producers, significant volumes of grain and oilseeds are stuck inside the country due to problems with export logistics. This is leading to a reduction in working capital, while the cost of the next production cycle is rising sharply.
Among the key factors putting pressure on the sector are the price of diesel fuel at around €2 per 100 hryvnias, as well as the high cost of fertilizers, seeds, and loans. Together, these factors make growing a number of crops economically unviable, sector representatives warned.
The agricultural producers put a specific question to the Cabinet of Ministers: without a targeted support program and a resolution to the problem of selling the 2026 harvest, some farms will simply not take to the fields next season. For a whole range of crops, they assessed, planting a harvest no longer makes economic sense.
