NABU conducts searches at NBU governor Pyshny’s premises: case theories and resignation scenarios
21.10.2026 12:32Searches conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine at the home of National Bank of Ukraine Governor Andriy Pyshny are connected to two corruption cases — one involving the KarpatNefteKhim plant and another involving the nationalized Sens Bank.
This was reported by Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a member of parliament from the Holos faction.
According to the lawmaker, both episodes involve Vasyl Veselyi, whom he describes as a minder from Bankova. The former head of Sens Bank’s supervisory board testified that it was Pyshny who brought Veselyi into the position of adviser to the head of the supervisory board of that financial institution. Pyshny denied this — and, according to Zheleznyak, it was on this basis that a criminal case was opened against him.
Veselyi appears in audio recordings related to the case of businessman Timur Mindich. In those recordings, he discusses with Oleksandr Tsukerman the appointment of his people to the new composition of Sens Bank’s board.
Zheleznyak also pointed to a possible scenario for Pyshny’s resignation. If Pyshny himself submits a resignation in connection with the NABU searches, the Verkhovna Rada could approve the decision on October 26 — the NBU governor’s birthday. Without a statement from Pyshny himself, dismissing him would be more difficult, the lawmaker stressed.
Zheleznyak named Pyshny’s first deputy, Serhiy Mykolaichuk, as the most likely candidate to replace him.
Pyshny is considered a close associate of former head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak. Rumors about preparations for his resignation have been circulating in financial and political circles for several months.
