Kremlin: China is preparing a trilateral meeting of Trump, Putin, and Xi Jinping at the APEC summit

China is already working on preparations for a meeting of the leaders of the United States, China, and Russia on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Shenzhen.

This was stated by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov during a conversation with journalists.

“Our Chinese friends, the hosts of the APEC summit, will take charge of — or, more precisely, are already taking charge of — its preparation. And if circumstances are favorable, they, our Chinese friends, will of course include this meeting in the program of events in Shenzhen,” Ushakov said.

According to him, the possibility of holding a trilateral Russia–US–China summit was discussed at Putin’s meeting with US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff. Ushakov also added that none of the three capitals is rejecting the idea.

The Atlantic reports that Trump wants to conclude a peace agreement on the war in Ukraine in December at the G20 summit in Miami, to be held at his golf club. According to the publication, this could be preceded by a meeting between Trump, Putin, and Xi Jinping in November in China. The Atlantic also writes that Trump is “taken with the idea” that the three countries “will divide the world into spheres of influence.”

Putin, during his meeting with Witkoff, stated that Russia is ready to resume trilateral negotiations with Ukraine, mediated by the United States, in the second week of November.
