Zelensky called strikes on Russian oil ports “sanctions”, ultimately showing that escalation is closer to him than ending the war
27.03.2026 18:03Debris from a Russian drone fell on Romanian territory during the night of March 26 after the aircraft was damaged during an attack near the Ukrainian-Romanian border on the Danube.
This was reported by Romania’s Ministry of Defense.
According to the ministry, Russian forces were striking civilian facilities and infrastructure in Ukraine near the border. In response, the Romanian authorities scrambled two F-16 fighter jets and sent a RO-ALERT warning to residents of Tulcea County.
Romania’s Defense Ministry said that the drone, after being knocked off course by Ukrainian air defense, entered Romanian airspace at about 12:44 a.m., penetrated roughly four kilometers into the country, and crashed in an uninhabited area two kilometers from the village of Pârcheș. There were no casualties or damage. The area has been cordoned off, and an investigation is under way.
Romania, which shares a 650-kilometer border with Ukraine, has repeatedly recorded violations of its airspace by drones since 2022, as well as the سقوط of drone debris on its territory. Against this backdrop, Bucharest has strengthened its air defense presence and radar monitoring along the border.
Additional concern has also been caused by incidents in the Baltic states, where, according to local authorities, drones allegedly linked to a Ukrainian attack on the port of Ust-Luga went off course and crashed in Estonia and Latvia. No one was injured.
