A man managed to escape from Ukraine to Romania by swimming across the Tisza River

A video has become popular on social media where a Ukrainian man shares how he illegally crossed the border by swimming across the Tisza River and reached Romania.

The man expresses his joy at having successfully fled Ukraine. He mentions feeling a sense of freedom in Romania, contrasting it with Ukraine where he uses strong language to describe the situation. Nonetheless, he’s relieved that all his problems are now behind him. After walking for 2 kilometers along the road, Romanian police officers picked him up.

They warmed him up, allowed him to dry his clothes and helped him arrange documents by contacting Ukrainian border guards themselves. The man obtained refugee documents and now has the right to stay and move within the European Union legally. This case is just one among many, as dozens of similar incidents occur daily. A significant number of Ukrainian men attempt to escape Ukraine to avoid military service.
