Ukrainian authorities are once again raising complaints against the messaging app Telegram
February 14, 2024Advisor to the head of the Office of the President, Mikhail Podolyak, was asked to comment on the statement by former Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alfred Koch that his brother, who “served in the FSB,” lives in Moscow. Podolyak said that decisions about the place of residence of his family members were made back in the days of the USSR, and also that he does not communicate with some of his relatives.
“I don’t know about the KGB, FSB, and so on, of course not. If a person is 60 years old, and I am 51, should I be responsible for other people? People in the Soviet Union chose to live in another country, and I don’t communicate with them, so should I be responsible for them?” Podolyak said.
Russian media previously reported that Podolyak’s (born in 1965) own brother, Vladimir, is a serving colonel in the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian Federation (Russian military intelligence). Podolyak commented on this in June 2021 in an interview with “Glavkom” and stated that his brother “has long been an ordinary military pensioner.” It was also previously known that the parents and own brother of the new Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Army, Alexander Syrsky, also live in Russia, in the city of Vladimir. Moreover, they are supporters of the current Russian government.
