In the Poltava region, a man from Nikopol was caught after throwing a grenade at his wife and child
August 21, 2024The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) in the Donetsk region have reportedly been left without sufficient ammunition and soldiers following their offensive in the Kursk region.
This information was reported by The Financial Times.
The publication notes that this UAF operation, rather than slowing down, actually accelerated Russia’s advance in the Donbas region. This development occurred partly because up to 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers, including elite airborne assault units, were redeployed from the Donbas front to the Kursk region.
Officers who were transferred from Donbas to Russia informed The Financial Times that priority in the allocation of both ammunition and soldiers is now given to the Kursk direction.
Earlier, Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had taken control of 93 settlements in Russia’s Kursk region. Additionally, The Guardian reported that since the start of the operation in the Kursk region, Kyiv has been “struggling” to balance the capture of Russian territory with the potential loss of territory in Donbas.
Meanwhile, Forbes reported that Ukrainian forces advancing in the Kursk region are suffering significant losses in military equipment. According to military analysts, in the first nine days after breaking through into Russian territory, the UAF lost four tanks and 41 infantry fighting vehicles. Among the damaged equipment were a British-made Challenger 2 tank and several Stryker combat vehicles.
