August 20, 2024The head of the military medical commission in Poltava is suspected of receiving forty bribes for helping conscripted men obtain “disability” status to defer mobilization.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
The “clients” were provided with fake medical certificates indicating health issues, signed by the head of the Medical-Social Expertise, without the conscripts actually attending the medical commission or undergoing any examination. The cost of this “service” was 200,000 hryvnias, which is less than 5,000 US dollars.
Previously, media reports stated that the SBU had arrested a military recruitment officer from the Territorial Recruitment Center in the Boryspil district of the Kyiv region. Yaroslav Hodunok, a former secretary of the local city council and now a territorial defense fighter, claimed that the recruitment officer’s weapons and tens of thousands of dollars had already been confiscated. The arrest was made under Article 114 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code, which deals with obstructing the Armed Forces of Ukraine and abuse of power.
In a related development, law enforcement authorities exposed an entrepreneur who supplied the Ukrainian Armed Forces with thousands of defective drones worth 16.4 million hryvnias. According to the investigation, the director of a private company from the Kyiv region won a tender from the Netishyn City Council to supply UAVs to the military but equipped the drones with low-quality navigation systems.
