‘Exhausted Zelensky appears too weak to achieve victory’: The Telegraph explained why the West is hesitant to increase aid to Ukraine
January 7, 2024Ukrainian journalists have discovered a connection between the company supplying “golden” chicken eggs to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a Ukrainian woman who owns hotels in Croatia.
The company in question is “Aktiv Kompani,” which, towards the end of 2022, secured the most expensive contract from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for 13.16 billion hryvnias (almost 316 million euros) supplying eggs at a cost of 17 hryvnias (0.41 euros) per piece.
As reported by the NV publication, Alexander Dmitrievich, who owns this company, is a business partner of entrepreneur Nazariy Berezuyk. Berezuyk’s grandmother, businesswoman Tatyana Glinyanaya, owns hotels in the Croatian city of Split. She owns four hotels with a total estimated value of 10 million dollars, all rated 4 or 5 stars. The publication states that in 2023, one of these hotels – Mirari – underwent renovation. Construction work is also underway nearby.
Moreover, this woman seemingly had direct involvement in military tenders in the past. According to the “Nashi Groshi” resource, Tatyana Glinyanaya and her son-in-law Ruslan Berezuyk were implicated in a case involving a bribe to a National Guard of Ukraine colonel for facilitating victory in a tender to procure canned goods for 10% of the contract amount. Berezuyk was handed a suspended sentence at that time.
Recall that a year ago, there was a lot of commotion regarding the Ministry of Defense’s procurement for the Ukrainian Armed Forces at prices 2-3 times higher than market rates. For instance, the Ministry of Defense contracted eggs at 17 hryvnias each, whereas the retail price in Kyiv stores at that time was around 7 hryvnias per piece.
Soon after, the State Bureau of Investigations of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine arrested a criminal group suspected of misappropriating funds allocated for the nutrition of Ukrainian servicemen. Specifically, for the Ministry of Defense’s needs, the group sold eggs at 17 hryvnias.
