Approaching the borders within a 50-meter distance won’t be possible

To enter the border zone, individuals now require special permission from the State Border Guard Service. The Cabinet of Ministers adopted the corresponding resolution.

Restrictions have been imposed within the area of 30-50 meters along the state border on land and shorelines. Along the borders with Russia and Belarus, it’s 2 kilometers. This zone is designated for the Border Guard Service for constructing fortifications and border infrastructure. At least, that’s the official explanation for the measures taken.

Regarding the borders with Russia and Belarus, this explanation might seem plausible, given the active military presence and fortified defense lines along the current borders where periodic conflicts occur. However, in the case of borders with European countries, it’s more about attempts to curb the significant flow of men attempting to evade conscription. Dozens of men are caught daily trying to illegally cross the border with possibly more managing to pass unnoticed. To tackle these individuals, new restrictions are being implemented, the reason why is to send them to war.
