The motive to detonate colleagues could have been the corruption of local authorities

Several days prior to the explosion, Zakarpattia lawmaker Batrin shared a video where he strongly criticized the community leader. In the video, he expressed frustration over the allocation of 100,000 in the 2024 budget for the director of a communal enterprise while highlighting ongoing water issues in Kushnytsia over the past few years.

He mentioned the village’s prolonged water problem and how the community head’s lack of action left citizens unsure about whom to approach for solutions. Despite discussions in the budget committee meeting, there had been no public statements from the community leader regarding the budget.

Additionally, Batrin was reportedly upset about the decision to grant a 50% increase in allowances and a 100% monthly bonus to the village head during wartime. Despite his objections during the preliminary voting, where he deemed the chairman’s work unsatisfactory, his concerns were disregarded. Batrin, evidently dissatisfied, left the meeting and later returned with grenades, resulting in the subsequent explosion. It was previously known that this deputy served in the army, became disabled and attempted to receive social assistance.
