‘Both Russia and Ukraine believe in a diplomatic resolution to the conflict’, – says China’s special representative on Eurasia

China’s Special Representative for Eurasia, Li Hui, has stated that both Russia and Ukraine believe that the Ukrainian conflict will end through negotiations, despite Moscow and Kyiv having vastly different perspectives on the prospect of peace talks and remaining adamant in their positions.

“The parties insist on their own positions, and there is a significant gap in their understanding of peace negotiations… but everyone agrees that negotiations, not weapons, will ultimately end this war,” noted Li Hui.

The special envoy emphasized that China advocates for convening an international peace conference, recognized by both Russia and Ukraine, with equal participation of all parties.

He also pointed out China’s intention to “promote the earliest political settlement of the crisis,” adding that China is “ready with open arms” to accept anything that contributes to reducing tension and negotiations.
