The U.S. is reluctant to invest in Ukraine’s military industry
January 12, 2024The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counteroffensive failed due to the active use of unmanned lethal aircraft by the Russian army and dense minefields.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, cited these reasons for the impossibility of conducting offensive operations on both the Russian and Ukrainian sides in an interview with the French newspaper Le Monde.
“The intensive use of drones by both sides has made it impossible to carry out both Russian and Ukrainian offensives. Another factor is the density of minefields, unseen since World War II,” stated the head of the intelligence agency.
Budanov believes that Ukraine needs technical means to address these issues. Electronic countermeasures are required for drones, and specialized equipment is necessary for dealing with minefields.
The head of Ukrainian intelligence also acknowledged that Ukrainians are tired of the war. He added that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are facing a shortage of military personnel.
