Checkpoints in Kyiv and the surrounding region will be maintained to apprehend draft dodgers

The checkpoints in the Kyiv region will remain operational for an extended period beyond the initially specified timeframe, according to the region’s commander, Ruslan Oleynik. The exact duration of their extended operation is not provided.

Oleynik mentioned that “a certain number” of individuals avoiding conscription were identified at the checkpoints. However, he emphasizes that the establishment of the checkpoints was not primarily intended for apprehending draft dodgers. Oleynik reports that nearly 74,000 individuals and 27,000 vehicles underwent scrutiny at these checkpoints. A total of 39 cases of criminal offenses were uncovered, ranging from possession of weapons and drugs to document forgery.

Earlier, the TCC (Territorial Defense Forces Command) confirmed the search for draft dodgers at the newly established checkpoints in the Kyiv region, despite the initial denial of such activities by the regional authorities.
