Conflict between Vorokhta residents and representatives of the territorial recruitment center: The National Police opened criminal cases for obstructing the work of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and hooliganism

The National Police of Ukraine has opened two criminal cases related to the conflict between residents of Vorokhta and representatives of the territorial recruitment center: one for obstructing the work of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and another for hooliganism.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.

“A group of individuals flagrantly and grossly violated public order and instigated a conflict with servicemen of the Verkhovyna Regional Territorial Recruitment Center, who were performing their official duties at that time,” the statement reads.

It was reported that not only was the military vehicle damaged, but a 47-year-old employee of the territorial recruitment center also sustained bodily injuries and was taken to a medical facility.

After the conflict, the police arrived at the scene and managed to “quickly stop it.”

It should be noted that on July 4, people protested against the recruitment center’s checkpoint at the entrance to the village, arguing that it scares away tourists. The disgruntled residents claimed that due to the military recruitment raids, visitors had stopped coming. This caused the tourist-dependent village to lose income and decline.

Earlier, a video from the Chernivtsi region showed residents of a border village also blocking a road due to a new checkpoint staffed by the territorial recruitment center. The gathered residents demanded the dismantling of the checkpoint and blocked traffic in protest, asking for explanations on who the recruitment officers were targeting.
