Deputies want to limit care for disabled individuals by one person for the sake of mobilization

In the parliamentary committee on national security issues, there are plans to restrict men from caring for a disabled person. Currently, several men are often responsible for caring for a disabled person and authorities believe they are avoiding military service. Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Yegor Chernev, made this announcement.

“We have heard about the issues faced by disabled individuals and those who care for them. We are currently seeking a solution where disabled individuals will not be deprived of necessary care. On the other hand, we need to close the loophole exploited by some draft dodgers. They find disabled individuals, and one disabled person may have, for example, nine caregivers. This should not be allowed. There should only be one caregiver,” he said.

It was previously reported that territorial recruitment centers may deny deferment from mobilization to conscripts who have a wife with a disability of groups 1 or 2 if there are other able-bodied individuals obligated by law to support them. Thus, we are witnessing another narrowing of the mobilization criterion — a policy by the authorities to expand the numerical composition of the army to replenish combat losses. However, the authorities do not consider the implications for the disabled individuals who would lose their caregivers.
