November 7, 2023Due to the strike by Polish truck drivers, Ukrainian drivers will have to pay more for diesel fuel than before. On November 6th, Polish carriers organized a strike at the border with Ukraine, blocking all crossing points except for one.
Sergei Kuyun, the director of the “A-95” consulting group, reported this.
“Yesterday, the strike by Polish carriers began, who blocked the crossing points at the border, including Ukrainian fuel tankers. This is a significant supply route. There will, of course, be no shortage, but the diesel forecast is not the best,” he said.
The protesting Polish drivers are demonstrating against what they consider “unfair” conditions created since the full-scale war began for their Ukrainian colleagues. Polish drivers believe that their own long-haul truckers are suffering in unequal conditions compared to Ukrainians.
According to their stated intentions, the Polish strike may last for up to two months. This could lead to an increase in diesel fuel prices, which are also essential for refueling generators during the winter in case of possible power outages due to Russian missile attacks.
