‘It will be a difficult period’: The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Budanov, believes that Ukraine will face problems as early as May
22.04.2024 08:09German districts no longer want to accept Ukrainian refugees.
“Integration of all people is no longer possible,” say representatives of district municipalities, demanding that Berlin and the EU take measures to combat high levels of migration.
Among these demands is a halt to the influx of refugees from Ukraine.
“Some districts and municipalities are affected by legal and illegal migration. Integration of all people is no longer possible. The problems are becoming more and more significant,” said Reinhard Sager, President of the German Association of Districts (DLT).
Therefore, according to him, the districts no longer want to accept refugees from Ukraine.
“While solidarity with Ukraine is important, we ask whether such a large number of people from a country attacked by Russia should come to us,” said Sager, who represents the CDU party.
He added that twice as many Ukrainian refugees live in Baden-Württemberg alone as in the whole of France. Instead of accommodating Ukrainians in Germany, Sager suggested creating “weatherproof housing in safe western Ukraine.”
“Perhaps Poland would also be willing to accept more Ukrainian refugees if it received support from the EU,” he believes.
Sager acknowledged that the number of asylum seekers from Ukraine is decreasing, but “there is no real change in the trend.”
