‘Serious problems arose in continuing the financing of aid, both in the American Congress and the EU’: Ukrainian political analysts have started summing up the year
December 29, 2023MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak essentially accuses the Cabinet of Ministers of failing to adhere to the agreements with the IMF regarding the bill on the reform of the Bureau of Economic Security (BES).
The deputy claims that if Ukraine doesn’t complete the reevaluation of BES employees by the end of June 2024, Kyiv will miss out on a new tranche, facing issues with the financial aid program and funds from other donors.
Simultaneously, the Cabinet, in its bill, proposes to conduct the reevaluation of BES employees only after the expiration of the martial law. The Cabinet may conduct the reevaluation of BES employees “behind closed doors.” Everyone hired after the law’s adoption is exempt from reevaluation. The MP refers to such ideas as “attempts at manipulation,” which have previously resulted in international backlash against Ukraine but still persist in “hitting the same cactus.”
