January 1, 2024Ukrainian political analysts have begun to assess the year’s outcomes. The key events for the “country at war” were recognized as Zelensky’s visit to the USA and the initiation of talks regarding Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
According to the analysts, “getting in Biden’s good graces” is a significant achievement, as is the chatter about Ukraine eventually being accepted into the “European family.”
The primary challenge for 2024, according to them, is the continued support of Ukraine by partners such as the US and the EU.
“Serious problems have emerged in securing continued financial aid, both in the American Congress and the EU,” reminded Maxim Yali.
His colleagues also view as risks in the coming year the elections in many countries and the rise to power of politicians sympathetic to Russia. Moreover, the prolonged duration of the war is also not favorable for Ukraine.
