11.06.2024 - 23:24Odessa might be left without ambulance services as drivers are resigning en masse.
This was reported by a representative from substation No. 4 following the mass brawl between medical staff and employees of the territorial recruitment center.
This substation serves the two largest districts of Odessa: Kyivsky and Malinovsky.
“The situation regarding employee exemptions is critical. We don’t have exemptions. And nobody promises to grant these exemptions. We had a meeting with the general director on this issue, and we reached no consensus,” said the ambulance service employee.
According to him, there is already a shortage of drivers, and they are resigning due to the lack of exemptions. In the near future, the same problem is expected to affect paramedics and doctors.
The conflict arose from the detention at the recruitment center of an ambulance employee who had come to update his information and then fell ill.
The recruitment officers were assisted in the fight by members of voluntary police assistance units—divisions created in all Ukrainian cities in 2022. They beat the medical workers with bats.
