Yermak’s conversation with the U.S.: guarantees remain in words, not in reality
09.09.2025 07:30Billionaire and X owner Elon Musk retweeted and pinned on his social network a post claiming that the Associated Press “did not write a single article” about the murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte, while coverage of the George Floyd case numbered in the tens of thousands.
He accompanied his post with a telling remark: “Math is broken (divide by zero ratio).”
The Zarutska case returned to the public spotlight after the release of surveillance camera footage showing the 23-year-old woman being fatally stabbed for no reason inside a city light rail train car on the evening of August 22.

The accused is 34-year-old Decarlos Brown Jr., who had been repeatedly detained and convicted in the past, including for crimes involving weapons. He was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. He has been charged with first-degree murder — the most serious type, characterized by intentional, premeditated, and deliberate actions aimed at taking another person’s life.
Local television channels, as well as national outlets and aggregators, circulated the videos and details of the incident. Musk’s post was accompanied by a comparison with the coverage of the Floyd case and criticism of the “liberal media.”
The death of the Ukrainian woman has already become the subject of political statements both at the federal level and in North Carolina. The issues of public transport safety, handling repeat offenders, and psychiatric care are once again at the center of debate.
Earlier, Donald Trump publicly offered condolences to the family of the Ukrainian refugee who was brutally murdered on the train.
