‘We cannot do that’: The President of Mexico rejected Ukraine’s request to arrest Putin
09.08.2024 - 09:22The Prime Minister of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer, has called for a reduction in aid to Ukraine.
He made this statement in an interview with RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland.
“We can no longer continue to allocate funds for weapons to Ukraine, only for those weapons to be used without any tangible results. Everything should be in moderation. Support—yes, but we understand that we have reached our limit,” Michael Kretschmer stated.
He urged the start of negotiations and mentioned that since the beginning of Russia’s invasion, he has been advocating for diplomacy rather than the transfer of weapons.
“From the very beginning, I was clearly against supplying weapons and supported diplomatic initiatives. I have held a very clear opinion on this for two years, and I must unfortunately acknowledge that it has been confirmed in many aspects,” Kretschmer added.
Last year, the Prime Minister of Saxony urged Germany not to abandon Russian gas.
